Regional Framework For Local Biodiversity Conservation Priorities in Perth and Peel Launched

10th Anniversary of the Perth Biodiversity Project celebrated with the release of the

Local Government Strategic and Statutory Planners and Environmental Officers in Perth and Peel can now access the new on-line tool designed to inform land use planning in the Perth and Peel Region schemes areas, considering the regional and local biodiversity conservation needs, legislative and policy requirements and local biodiversity conservation objectives. The Regional Framework forms part of the  on-line Environmental Planning Tool available to local governments.

Launch of the Regional Framework on 28 September was also used to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Perth Biodiversity Project. Present and past project partners, present and past PBP team members and local government representatives gathered to celebrate the achievements in Local biodiversity conservation in Perth.  Many Local Governments were recognised over the years through the Milestone Awards program. The PBP used the 10th anniversary celebration to recognise four Local Governments, City of Swan, City of Stirling, City of Gosnells and City of Joondalup, for their demonstrated long term commitment to strategic conservation of biodiversity locally. As a token of appreciation for continuous support for the PBP, Local Governments are receiving a Banksia seedling with a commemorative plaque.
